It took me a while to choose which piece of artwork by Camilla d’Errico I wanted to get for my ninth tattoo. I have been in love with her style and concepts for years and it was too hard to narrow it down to just one portrait, so I combined three of them. She is a truly talented artist and I can’t think of another piece I could be more honored to have on my body permanently. The majority of this piece is taken from her painting entitled, “Nature’s Course”. I’ve never found official record of her idea behind this portrait, so I’ve left it up to my own interpretation. Based on the title I believe the egg represents birth, the butterfly life, and the skeleton death. As far as the horns, I’m still figuring that one out. The crow is her demons, her dark side. It’s a part of her that will always be there. One she can never fully let go of. However, with the other hand, she’s searching. For someone. Anyone. An ounce of love to help her thru one more day. As her hair trails off into octopus tentacles, the thought is there that although she knows what she needs, she hasn’t full grasped how to accept it.
This is my newest tattoo; a fox, whom I’ve named Elias.
The fox is the symbol on my family crest and is also my favorite animal. Not to mention, this was done from a watercolor painting, which is my favorite medium.
Done by Don at Asgard Ink in New Albany, IN.
AWESOME!
